Remember that critically acclaimed television show from the mid-nineties which was themed around a bunch of Friends, their lives, and their everyday drama?
That show which grew dear to a whole generation and continues to claim fans even today? That show which defined friendship to most, made them laugh, cry and whose dialogues and quotes are famous? Remember Smelly Cat? No, we aren’t talking about Squanch.
Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Ross, and Joey? You know what this is about. If not, don’t worry, we’ll be there for you.
A mashup?
In a multiverse with infinite parallel realities and possibilities such as the one in Rick and Morty, it is only a surprise that this idea wasn’t unearthed earlier. Two incredible shows that have indisputable cult status were thrown into a fun little mashup video by one of the creative members of the Rick and Morty fandom, and the results are very impressive.
Tell me more…
YouTube user DandyDani who so happens to be a hardcore fan of Rick and Morty took the creative liberty of splicing together some interestingly mind-bending scenes and clips from our favorite animated tv show.
And he cleverly arranged them to the tune “I’ll be there for you” by the group Rembrandts, which as we all know, is the theme song for the legendary F.R.I.E.N.D.S. All of this in just under Rixty seconds. How cool is that?
What’s this Rixty little concoction all about?
Picture this. Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith on the couch in front of their telly. Rick asks Morty what they should watch next, soon after which he switches the channel and goes “How about this?”.
The camera pans and closes up on the telly, and there we have it. *fasten your seatbelts* The F.R.I.E.N.D.S. theme song begins to play introducing the cast.
First up, starring, a Poor Dude (from the episode where Morty plays a game called Roy: A life lived well), followed by A Nasty Dude (Squanchy Squanch Squanch), James Bond (Krombopulous Michael), Rick Sanchez as, well, the every ever enigmatic and morbid genius Rick Sanchez, more Rick Sanchez, a different Rick Sanchez (the dumb but super nice one that befriends Jerry Smith), and a bountiful overload of more Ricks.
The video then goes on to show clips of the various and dear adventures of Rick and Morty as the chorus “I’ll be there for you” plays. Following this, we get to more of the cast, also starring The Poacher (Tammy Gueterman), The Batman (Birdperson), and finally, our personal favorite Saul Goodman-Attorney at Law (none other than Morty). The video has an explosive ending, leaving us with mixed feelings of excitement and nostalgia. Splicing up the clips is so neat, and the transition is flawless. Job well done, DandyDani. We love your work.
