"General Hospital' star Roger Howarth, the actor who plays Franco Baldwin, will remain in Port Charles for another year. Celeb Dirty Laundry shared that the actor was having trouble reaching a contract agreement and could leave the ABC soap opera. Well, thank goodness that won't happen as ABC and Roger came to an agreement, at the very last minute!

Franco sticks around another year

There has been buzz that Franco could sacrifice himself to save his loved ones---Kiki (Hayley Erin), Liz Webber (Elizabeth Herbst), and Jake (Hudson West). However, it looks like he won't be killed off.

"General Hospital" fans will have to wait to see how his storyline plays out.

Last year, both Roger and Herbst had painful contract negotiations, which left Elizabeth off the show for a week or two. Many fans worried that Franco might have to be written off the show while "General Hospital" worked out a deal for the actor.

Franco is important to General Hospital

ABC realizes that Franco is vital to the show. They decided to give the actor what he needed and solidify a deal. His character, Franco, sparks passion.

The fans either love him or hate him, and both sides are incredibly passionate about their stance.

"General Hospital" spoilers tease that Franco and Liz could be headed down the altar soon, but the showrunners caution that it could be a bumpy ride before they get hitched. One thing is sure about Frizz is they are in love and completely trust each other.

There has been some buzz that Liz would hook up with Griffin (Matt Cohen), but that seems pretty unlikely. Franco is very close to Liz's son, Jake, something that means a great deal to her.

"General Hospital" fans don't think she'd risk losing Franco for someone that may not work out.

Other soaps wanted Roger Howarth

If ABC hadn't inked a deal with Howarth, he would have had no trouble landing a new role. Rumors swirled that "The Young and the Restless" wanted Roger to step into the role of Adam Newman.

Of course, many "Y&R" fans didn't think he would have been a good fit for the role, but others welcomed him the chance to prove he could play the complex role. As it turns out, no one will ever know since "General Hospital" renewed his contract.
