It will soon be time to wrap up all the main prime time shows on each network. The likes of CBS, NBC, ABC, and the CW will spend some time now looking at the data and make final decisions on some of their undecided shows. While many favorites have already gained renewals or some others have been confirmed as finished, there are some shows still with an unknown fate. Here’s a look at four shows that are in major danger of cancellation this season.
NBC’s ‘Powerless’
It is highly likely that fans will say goodbye to “Powerless” this season. It’s a shame, because this is a freshman show that hasn’t had the best of chances. NBC completely made a mess of the schedule, making it hard for fans to follow the show properly. But it isn’t only the fault of the network. The idea of the show was original, but it just didn’t deliver in the writing and character development. Focusing too much on one-liners, the show has only just started finding its feet these last couple of weeks.
CW’s ‘Frequency’
This is another freshman show that had some promise. Based on the movie of the same name, fans were taken through 13 weeks of questions about the Nightingale.
Each episode moved the plot forward and there wasn’t an episode that felt dragged out and boring. In fact, loyal fans continued to tune in live. Unfortunately, the show didn’t have a big fanbase. Even for the CW the viewer ratings were extremely low. It is possible that the network will move the show to a midseason lineup instead of main season instead if it wants to save it.
CW’s ‘No Tomorrow’
The CW greenlighted two new shows for the 2016 fall season. “Frequency” and “No Tomorrow” and both have one thing in common: they are heading for cancellation. “No Tomorrow” had an interesting premise but that wasn’t enough to draw in the fanbase. Like with “Frequency,” the show couldn’t get the viewing figures that it needed.
It is possible that like its time-travelling show, the CW will move it to a midseason lineup in an attempt to save it.
ABC’s ‘Once Upon a Time’
“Once Upon a Time” was a dream in the first few seasons, but the ratings have been falling steadily over the last few years. In fact, this is a show that was in danger of cancellation last year, but surprisingly picked up. Many fans expect this to be the last season, and the storyline is certainly setting up for it. The final chapter to the book is being written at the moment, suggesting that there will be no more stories to tell and no need for season 7.
