According to People magazine, Chris Soules was involved in a deadly accident on Monday, April 24 near his home in Iowa. The former "Bachelor" and "Dancing with the Stars" alum was arrested on Tuesday, April 25 for leaving the scene after the accident.

It was reported that Soules' 2008 Chevy pickup ran into the back of a Tractor Trailer in Arlington, Iowa around 8:20 p.m. on Monday night. Both vehicles ended up in ditches. The accident occurred about 15 miles south of Soules' farm in Arlington. Soules was not injured, but Kenneth Mosher was rushed to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein.

The 66-year-old driver of the tractor trailer died from his injuries. The 35-year-old left the scene of the accident, and he was arrested on Tuesday, April 25 at around 1:16 a.m. He was booked and is currently in custody.

Court documents

Court documents show that Soules was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Even though alcoholic beverages and containers were found at the scene of the accident, he was not charged with driving under the influence.

There is an ongoing investigation where officials say they are trying to find out what happened before the crash, such as where the farmer had been, what he was doing, and where he was going when the accident happened. By the time law officials arrived on the scene, Soules left.

He allegedly wouldn't come out of his house until a search warrant was obtained hours later. Officials also say Soules was not cooperative.

Soules' fate

If Soules pays the $10,000 bond that has been set by the judge, he can be released from jail before his trial, but he will have to surrender his passport and wear an ankle bracelet.

According to court records, Soules was convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in 2006.

Soules was the star of the 19th season of “The Bachelor” in 2015. He chose Whitney Bischoff and they were engaged for only two months before they called off their engagement. From "The Bachelor" he went straight to Season 20 of "Dancing with the Stars" in the same year.

His partner was Witney Carson. They were eliminated during Week 8 and finished in 5th place.

The news of the hit-and-run accident was discussed on CBS' "The Talk" on Tuesday. The co-hosts were sympathetic toward both parties. They offered advice for anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation. Sara Gilbert, executive producer and co-host, advised people not to leave the scene of an accident no matter how afraid they may be.
