"Shameless" star Emmy Rossum is the latest celebrity to have been targeted by burglars. The thieves emptied two safes from Rossum's West L.A. home last week. TMZ reports that while Emmy was in New York City her housekeep showed up Friday to work and found that the house had been broken into.
$150,000 worth of antique jewels stolen
Rossum's housekeeper reported the crime to the police, stating that when she arrived she noticed that the power was off and the glass on the back door had been busted out. After looking through the home the maid also noticed that Rossum's two safes were left open and all of her antique jewelry was missing.
Nothing else in the home was taken. It is wondered if the jewels were all the thieves were after, or if perhaps they had been spooked mid-crime.
TMZ reveals that the jewels were estimated to be worth around $150,000 and that Rossum had made the crime an easy one because she had written the safe's combinations next to them. Three months into 2017 and the list of celebrity burglaries continues to grow, so far the list includes Kendall Jenner, Derek Fisher, Alanis Morissette, and Jamie Presley, to name a few.
Showtime settles Rossum's pay demand increase, green lights Season 8
Emmy Rossum is best known for her role as Fiona Gallagher on the hit Showtime comedy-drama "Shameless." The popular series will return to Showtime for the eighth season this fall.
The show's renewal for the eighth season started off on shaky ground after Rossum demanded a pay increase equal to that of her co-star William H. Macy, who plays Frank Gallager.
Filming is set to begin in May which is a huge relief to fans who were left wondering if they would see more of their favorite dysfunctional family.
For those who have never seen the show, "Shameless" is the story of a poor Chicago family of six that have been left to fend for themselves along with their alcoholic father. The storylines get pretty crazy as per the title, "Shameless." The Gallagher family are every bit worthy of the title.
