The latest reboot of the much-awaited "King Kong" franchise named "King Kong: The Skull Island" had its theatrical release all around the United States on March 10, 2017, the date which coincides with the franchise's 84th anniversary. The film had its world premiere at the Cineworld Empire Leicester Square on February 28, 2017, and it will be released in Belgium two days before its US release.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, this action-adventure film is loaded with an ensemble star cast including tom hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Jing Tian, Toby Kebbell, John Ortiz, and Thomas Mann.
A tailor-made flick for monster movie lovers
The previous installment in the franchise was Peter Jackson's 2005 film "King Kong" which had a running time of 187 minutes. Even though the film was rich in its visuals, the elongated running time tested the patience of the audience. But when it comes to this movie, things are different, and the running time is less than two hours.
Set in the year 1973, the film revolves around the story of a secretive organization known as Monarch, which is conducting expeditions to find new species on a mysterious island. In the course of time, they come to know that the island is ruled by the mighty and powerful King Kong. Soon, the crew members start their fight against Kong and other creatures, and at one point of time, a clever member of the team realizes that Kong is worth saving.

Audiences all around the world are well aware of the basic storyline of the film, but what makes this movie unique is the top-rated special effects and Computer Graphics which enhanced the overall entertainment quotient. The visuals seem spectacular, and the beauty of the forest has been captured to the fullest.

Considering the huge number of release centers in the United States, "King Kong: Skull Island" is expected to have an opening which ranges from $45-$50 million.
