Amber Portwood and Matt Baier are the "Teen Mom OG" couple that postponed their October 2016 wedding and have not reset a date. There are rumors, however, that the two had a secret wedding in Vegas over the weekend.
What started the rumor?
The whole thing got started last Thursday when Matt posted on his Instagram account. There was a sign that said, "We're going to the chapel and we're going to get married." They fueled the rumor by saying that there would be a wedding but we would have to wait and see who the happy couple is. Thousands of fans were convinced a big wedding announcement would follow but it never came.
According to Ashley's Reality Roundup, the two did not apply for a marriage license in Clark County, Nevada or in their home state of Indiana. Those close to Amber only needed to know that Leah stayed home with Dad and did not make the trip to Las Vegas. Amber would not get married without her daughter by her side.
But why all the misleading statements?
Fans have started to speculate over the motivation of the couple to fuel such a rumor. Amber has been in the spotlight since her teen years as one of the "Teen Mom OG" family. Was this just a ploy for more attention? And when is the last time you saw an engaged couple use someone else's wedding to start rumors that they were secretly married? It just doesn't seem like something a couple that is serious about getting married would do.
From the very beginning of the relationship between Amber and Matt, fans have been skeptical. Many feel that she will never actually marry him knowing that he has so much in his past that he had hidden from her. And don't forget that he had hit on several other of the "Teen Mom" girls before making his way to Amber to begin with.
This latest stunt to put themselves on the rumor mill with something like their possible wedding only makes it look even more shady.
The couple that got married on Saturday in Vegas has not spoken out yet about Matt and Amber using their special day to start rumors regarding their own relationship. What do you think their reaction will be?
