"Star Wars" movies have a very powerful and epic feel to them due to the vast universe it has been built around. "The Force Awakens" is the sequel to the movie "Return of the Jedi" and it offers a great new connection the original movies. The reception for the movie has been quite good and the switch to Disney as the producer of the films and new owner of the name, brand, story and characters has been quite good.
The movie was released in Los Angeles exclusively for early access December 14, 2015 and then it was released nationwide and worldwide with very good reviews and acceptance from the fans.
The cast
There are stars from the original movies in this new "Star Wars" and this is a great way to service the fans with some nostalgia. Seeing Han Solo, princess Leia and a brief appearance by Luke Skywalker has definitely given the saga a much needed boost in terms of familiarity.
The new cast includes Daisy Ridley as the abandoned child that scavenges for a living and is waiting for her family to return, but she is no pushover and far from helpless as we discover through the film. Then we have Adam Driver as Kylo Ren. He is basically a character that was born out of his admiration for Darth Vader and the dark side of the force. Then there is John Boyega as the stormtrooper gone rebel and Oscar Issac as the top rebel X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron.
The plot
This movie is basically about a little droid that holds the map to Luke Skywalker’s location and this sets a number of characters on the quest to find him. The most important thing to keep in mind with this particular movie is that Rey, the young scavenger girl, seems to be linked to Luke Skywalker and she quickly finds that she has Jedi powers of her own.
It’s still unknown if Rey is Luke’s daughter, but she is definitely connected to him in some way.
Conclusion
"The Force Awakens" was the beginning of a whole new series of movies that avoid the extreme use of CGI and bring back a much more familiar feel and look to the "Star Wars" universe.
