"The Walking Dead" season 7B is just weeks away! February 12th is the big day that fans are counting down to. And apparently the cast is looking forward to getting back into a regular routine as well. Andrew Lincoln (Rick) was recently quoted by Uproxx as saying that the second half of season 7 is going to be quite different than what went on in the first half. "The band" is back together -- Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Maggie, and Carl. That leaves Melissa McBride (Carol) and Lennie James (Morgan) still with The Kingdom and King Ezekiel for now.
A lot of downtime for the split up cast
The first half of the season seemed slow. The cast was split up and in different locations. Each was coming to terms with the situation they were in. Carol and Morgan don't even know yet that Abraham and Glen were victim to Negan and Lucille.
When Lennie James (Morgan) was asked how the filming of season 7A went, he called it "horrible" and said that he "hated" it. The cast of "The Walking Dead" is known for being close. They enjoy hanging out together and working together. In the filming of the first half of the season, it was everything but what they were accustomed to. Each of the locations in the show (Alexandria, Hilltop, and The Sanctuary) are all located in a different place than The Kingdom.
Lennie James explained that they had not been together much for the filming. The hours were crazy and locations were so varied. Instead of being busy, he spent a lot of time during filming being bored and fetching coffee. He even admitted that he told Scott Gimple, showrunner, to never put him in that situation again. He had way too much downtime and didn't see his fellow cast members as often as he is used to.
Toned down violence when they return
Norman Reedus (Daryl) weighed in on his feelings about the first half of the season as well. He spent most of the time locked in a small cell and eating dog food sandwiches. His character is ready for some action! As he has previously stated in interviews, he is ready to get back to the killing! We will have to wait and see what that looks like since season 7B is being toned down.
