With Dancing With The Stars 2016 set to begin Sept. 12 on ABC, an Aug. 12 tweet by Good Morning America's official Twitter handleoffered up a juicy bit of info by letting fans know when they can expect to meet the next batch of celebrities who will cha cha, tango, and jive their way toward the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. Per the tweet, the DWTSseason 23 cast will be revealed during the Aug. 30 edition of GMA.
Who mightjoin the Dancing with the Stars 2016 cast?
The identities of the celebrity personalities who will compete as members of the DWTS season 23 cast are still under wraps, but a small number of potential spoilers have emerged in recent days.
A post to fansite PureDWTS noted thatGeneral Hospital actress Emma Samms posted a suspicious tweet that drew an even more suspicious response from long-time Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron:
@EmmaSamms1 You're such a tease! 🍷

Adifferentpost by @DancingABCStats suggested that a Rio 2016 alum might join up and shake her moneymaker in the ballroom. The tweet featured a photo of a US Weekly article which claimed that newly minted Olympic gymnastics all-around silver medalist Aly Raisman is trying to convince friend and teammate Simone Biles, who scored the gold in the all-around, to join the Dancing with the Stars 2016 cast. Raisman is a DWTS alum herself: she and pro dancer Mark Ballas placed fourth at the close of season 16.
Olympians and theDWTS lineup
Simone Biles would be far from the first Olympic gold medalist to join the DWTS lineup. Other recent fresh-from-the-games competitors have included ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White as well as Paralympian Amy Purdy. Davis won season 18 with popular pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who has since "retired" from the hit reality dance competition.
Other Olympic gold medalists who have taken part include figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, short track speed skater Apolo Ohno, soccer star Hope Solo, swimmer Natalie Coughlin, and gymnasts Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson.
Another potential addition to the Dancing with the Stars 2016 lineup --according to an unnamed source who spoke with Hollywood Life-- is swimmer Katie Ledecky, who won 200m, 400m, and 800m individual gold medals at the Rio Olympics.
Although her name isn't part of the current rumor mill, anothersolid choice for the new cast would be swimmer Simone Manuel, who became the first African American woman to win Olympic gold in an individual swimming event when she won the 100m freestyle final on Aug. 11 at Rio 2016.
Pro updates for season 23
A handful of the show's talented professional dancers have offered up hints regarding their status for the upcoming season. Val Chmerkovskiy, who won season 20 with actress Rumer Willis, has claimed that he's met his new partner via Twitter. Reigning pro champion Peta Murgatroyd is pregnant with her first child with fiance Maksim Chmerkovskiy and almost early out for the season. Also likely out for the season is Kym Johnson, who married Shark Tank star and former DWTS partner Robert Herjavec on July 31. Definitely out? Derek Hough, who won season 21 with Bindi Irwin.
