Since Oprah Winfrey delivered a powerful speech at last Sunday's Golden Globe Awards, some people are calling for her to run to be the next President of the United States. The speech she made was certainly inspiring and tailored to the theme of the event, but it was not a campaign speech. She made general statements, but she never indicated what she intended to do for the country a declaration included in most serious campaign speeches.

As soon as she put a period at the end of her speech and left the stage, people began calling for her to run for president. The billionaire media mogul has said, on more than one occasion, that she is not interested in entering the race for 2020.

Longtime journalist Dan Rather tweeted that Oprah's speech was that of a great American orator, and it included some good points. He added that the words spoken by Winfrey were those that have never been heard from the man in the White House who now appears to be missing the virtues of honesty, empathy, courage, and fortitude.

Rather, like so few Americans, believes that the decision for a presidential run is one that Winfrey has to make for herself.

President Donald Trump told reporters on Tuesday that he doesn't think she will run, but it would be a lot of fun if she did run against him because he would beat her. Trump said in an interview many years ago that he would have loved for Oprah to be his vice president. However, that was long ago before Trump decided to run for the highest office in the country himself.

Oprah has not come forward to put an end to this sudden outburst. However, her best friend "CBS Morning" host Gayle King said she doesn't think Oprah has changed her mind from her previous conviction not to run. Gayle added that her friend might be intrigued by the notion of so many people wanting her to run. King concluded that Oprah is at a good place in her life right now, but she does have the right to change her mind.

Odds against Oprah not running

Oprah saying multiple times that she is not interested should be enough to stop the public from insisting that she runs. In order for any politician to succeed, there must be some degree of interest and passion. While Oprah has demonstrated that she wants to do the right thing for humanity, she lacks the passion to do it through politics. She helped former President Barack Obama during his campaign in 2008. Even that doesn't make her capable of being president herself.

I think the public should leave Oprah alone to make her own decision. Do you think she will decide to run? Hopefully, she will put an end to the speculation and spare the public from hearing about this for another two years.
