Rick Pitino has the worst luck of all time, or he has known this whole time that something was going on. This guy has been extorted by a woman he was having an affair with, had strippers in dorms where his players lived, and he has an assistant under FBI investigation for fraud. There is no possible way one person can have luck this bad. The simple fact is that this guy cannot say he did not know what was going on. He had to have known something was going on, and he needs to be done coaching.
The FBI is serious
When you have someone in your program under FBI investigation, you are probably not going to keep your job.
This is as bad as it gets, and it is a problem that simply will not go away. You cannot explain away how the Feds have decided to investigate one of your assistants, and it looks ten times worse when you have all the other things going on around your program that look bad. The strippers and affair just make it that much harder to swallow. Anyone else would have been fired by now, but someone will want Rick to give his side of the story. He has to know where these players come from. You cannot convince anyone that he thought all his players magically appeared.
Louisville should be ashamed
It is impossible to believe that Louisville had no idea anything was going on. No one knew what was going on?
There was not one person in the athletic department who wanted to ask some questions about what was happening behind closed doors? Are we going to find out in a decade that someone saw everything from the affair to the strippers and the bribes and never said anything? That is how Penn State got throttled with a sex scandal, but in this case, the authorities were all over this.
The AD probably has to go
Louisville would be right to fire just about everybody in the athletic department. Who would have thought that at a time like this Bobby Petrino was the cleanest person at that school? He has skeletons in his closet that would fill out a Halloween party, but he looks like a Good Guy in all this because he never did anything this bad.
The worst part of this is that Petrino will get caught if he is doing anything because all this attention has been brought to the school. Now would be a very good time for us to learn that he is being the good guy because he could have his whole program wrecked if someone finds something improper. Louisville as a school is very proud, but this has to make you wonder if they will ever recover athletically.
