Is Dennis Rodman the key to world peace? One thing people have learned since Donald Trump has taken over as President of the United States is to never say never. However, will the former Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls star be a key factor in the upcoming meeting between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un?

Rodman headed to North Korea?

It is well known that former basketball star Dennis Rodman and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un are friends.

While it sounds totally outrageous, it may not be such a bad idea that Rodman is rumored to be heading to Singapore for the big meeting between President Trump and Jong-un.

Business Insider indicates that Rodman has developed a friendship with Kim over the last several years. The former NBA champion has made two trips to North Korea over the past few years and is one of the few American citizens to have ever met with the leader. What brought Rodman and Jong-un together is not 100 percent clear, however, the North Korean leader admits he loves the game of basketball. Rodman will reportedly arrive in Singapore on June 11, one day before the big meeting is scheduled between the two world leaders.

According to a New York Post report, Rodman could even have a role in the upcoming negotiations, but it's unclear what that might be.

The Rodman connection

Back in the late 1980’s and throughout the entire decade of the 1990’s, if someone had said that Dennis Rodman could have a direct impact on the world moving closer to becoming free of nuclear weapons, most people would have thought that was crazy. Fast forward to 2018 and it looks like that could very well be possible.

Rodman was a member of the dominant Chicago Bulls teams from 1995 to 1998, playing alongside the legendary Michael Jordan. Rodman was once fired by President Trump when he starred on NBC's reality show "The Apprentice” back in 2013, and now you can see how the pieces are starting to fit together.

Rodman and Trump became friends after the show and the former rebounding machine was very vocal about his support for Trump when he was running for the Oval Office in 2016.

Rodman played a total of 13 seasons in the NBA, won multiple world championships, and is a basketball Hall of Famer. Those stats on the hardwood are incredible, but he could now be walking into the most important event of his entire life. One thing is for sure, the upcoming Trump and Kim Jong-un meeting will have the entire world watching, and if Trump misses his shot at world peace, Rodman may be right there to grab the rebound and a second chance at hashing things out!
