This year, the G20 Meeting will be held in Hamburg, Germany. The two-day meeting will be held on the 7th and 8th of this week. Items to be discussed include more inclusive growth, the implementation of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, women’s rights, economic empowerment, refugees, the European migrant crisis, counter-terrorism as well as national security.

Confidence in Putin and Trump on world affairs

As Trump attends the G20 summit in Germany [VIDEO], few people living in the G20 countries have faith in both Trump and Vladimir Putin in leading World Affairs. Only Russians have more than 50 percent confidence in both leaders when it comes to global affairs according to research findings by Pew Research Center.

Results of the research

According to the research, 87 percent of Russians have confidence in Putin in running world affairs while 53 percent have confidence in Trump. Both presidents have not been able to command more that 50 percent faith among respondents in running global affairs. Germans and Mexicans have more confidence in Putin than Trump. Only 11 percent of German have faith in Putin while 25 percent trust Trump. Confidence levels on Trump in running world affairs among Mexicans stood at 5 percent while Putin scored 19 percent.

46 percent of Americans have confidence in Trump [VIDEO]as compared to 23 percent who trust Putin. Confidence for Putin stands at 34 percent among Republicans and 13 percent among the Democrats.

In India, Trump scored 40 percent compared to Putin who scored 29 percent.

Confidence levels between the two presidents are equal in France, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Australia.

The German chancellor scored higher in all G20 countries except in Russia in running world affairs when compared to Trump and Putin.

Protests

Protests have occurred in Germany ahead and during the G 20 meeting. On 18th last month, 13 arson attacks took place on the tracks of railways in Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig, Bad Bevensen, Cologne, and Dortmund. The attacks were conducted by left-wing extremists who were opposed to the upcoming G20 summit. A group called 'Shutdown G20' claimed the responsibility of the attacks a day later.

The CNN has reported that protests are still occurring as police used water cannons on protestors in Hamburg. The protests are currently occurring two kilometers from the venue of the summit. One protester told CNN that he is against capitalism. He also said that capitalism is the reason why the world is going wrong.

The G20 was founded in 1999, the economies of G20 countries account for approximately 80 percent of world's GDP. Two-thirds of the global population live in a G20 nation.
