Two major brands unveiled their latest collection that showcased distinctive styles at Milan Fashion Week. While Luxury fashion house Moschino featured its garden-inspired collection, Prada chose to present pop art-inspired pieces.
Moschino and its artistic director Jeremy Scott held their show on September 21, the second day of Milan Fashion Week, Vogue reported. The entire collection was filled with outfits ornamented with large-sized floral designs and butterfly wings.
The show was a combination of romanticism and rock. Biker apparel, leather jackets, and fishnet leggings were designed with a light color palette of florals and tulles. There were also thigh-high shoes, punk-inspired fashion pieces, and ballerina skirts.
Hadid sisters
Moschino is a high-end fashion brand founded by Franco Moschino in 1983. It provides ready-to-wear dresses, accessories, luggage, perfume, and footwear.
The brand’s Fashion Event was also attended by notable celebrities. Among those who walked on the runway include Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid. Some of Europe’s renowned personalities were also present, including Léa Julian, Lineisy Montero, Elsa Hosk and Kaia Gerber.
Meanwhile, Prada’s event chose to present its collection through a mix of pop art and comic books.
There were feminine style smock outfits, cigarette pants, and shirts that featured button-up collars. Even the footwear was fancy, such as knee-high sports socks and adorable kitten heels.
Comic style
The entire set and stage design were turned into life-sized comic book pages. Photos shared on Vogue showed the walls of the venue painted with gigantic cartoons, speech bubbles and expressive faces of animated women.
According to Miuccia Prada, the brand’s head designer, the show aimed to present a collection that is “feminine, strong and clever,” Vogue reported.
“It’s about women cartoonists since the Thirties, when women started to work with such fun, spirit, and intelligence,” the head designer said.
The entire runway was turned into a room filled with pop culture.
The background music itself was played in accordance with the theme. Featured artists included Lana Del Rey, Suzanne Vega, Nirvana and The Cure, giving the entire audience a blend of pop and alternative.
The next events of Milan Fashion Week include shows by Laura Biagiotti, Assegnato, Au Jour Le Jour, and Emerging Talents. The last day of the event will be held on September 25.
