Internationally-acclaimed fashion brand Gucci launched its 1980s-inspired collection at Milan Fashion Week, New York Post reported. From the outfits to the hairstyles, fashionistas were taken back to the decade of spandex and headbands.
According to Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele, the brand’s fashion show is a blend of art and life in the movies. He posted via Instagram that Gucci’s Spring 2018 designs are created with “a more cinematic away,” telling stories through faces and music.
It was a great way to kick off Milan Fashion Week, as models walked the runway with stage effects coming from ultraviolet lights.
The collection was a set of oversized coats, blazers and nostalgic hairstyles, New York Post added.
A model was seen strutting down the runway in a gray blazer with her hair styled just the same of Melanie Griffith’s character in the movie, “Working Girl.” Another female model was seen in oversized fur outfit sporting the hairstyle of Gwyneth Paltrow in her vintage on-screen stints. The hair was short and combed straight, with a clip on one side.
Gucci’s menswear collection
Gucci’s fashion show at Milan Fashion Week also saw hairstyles inspired by the Red Queen in Tim Burton’s movie, “Alice In Wonderland,” New York Post also reported. It was also a celebration of menswear.
According to Evening Standard, the brand’s menswear creations offered small-sized shorts paired with suits and ties.
These outfits were sown with creased cuts.
One of the male models walked in a bright yellow checkered suit that was also nostalgic of the previous decades. Aside from the clothing, the internationally-acclaimed fashion brand also featured accessories such as sunglasses and skull caps inspired by “Star Wars.” There were also tiaras that stood as necklaces, Evening Standard added.
