"Fortnite: Battle Royale'" is getting a brand new Limited Time Mode and according to the in-game news feed, the latest addition to the LTMs will be called "The Floor is Lava." In this new game mode, players will be forced to build structures, not only to protect themselves from other players but to get high ground before the molten lava eliminates them. The description for the latest game mode says "Get to high ground or build above the lava that's overtaking the island" and it seems like the Volcano near Sunny Steps is finally going to erupt causing the whole island to be covered in lava.

When is the new LTM coming?

"Fortnite" season 8 added a lot of new points of interest to the map, one of them being the Volcano where the Prisoner's throne is located. This new LTM is definitely connected to the Volcano and the lava flowing north of Retail Row might rise in level for this game mode.

From the teaser image of "The Floor is Lava" game mode, Tilted Towers is filled with lava which suggests that the whole map might be covered in lava before the match begins but it is still not confirmed whether players will be eliminated instantly when they touch the lava surface or if it is going to deal damage over time, just like the lava found near the Volcano.

Judging by the image, the new LTM might be a duo mode and resources will be hard to harvest. On the other hand, vehicles like The Baller are going to play a big role in getting an upper hand in this mode. There is also a strange cube-shaped thing found between the built structure which suggests that a new item might be added to the game with the next update.

Currently, Epic Games has not given an official date for the release of this new LTM in "Fortnite," but there's a chance that it will be added with patch v8.20.

Other changes coming in patch v8.20

There's an official thread on "Fortnite: Battle Royale" subreddit by Epic Games that allows players to submit information regarding bug found in the game.

Currently, the potential bug fixes coming in the next patch includes:

  • The issue where Clingers were damaging players through walls when stuck to another player.
  • Vehicles playing the balloon release sound on entering.
  • The issue where players fly off in a different direction than expected when shot from a Pirate Cannon.

The new update will also be bringing an "Arena Mode," and fans are speculating that this will be "Fortnite: Battle Royale's" ranked mode.
