The v8.20 patch for "Fortnite Battle Royale" went live on Wednesday, March 27. This was another major update in Season 8 and it has brought a lot of big changes to the popular video game. Epic Games has once again released gameplay and balance changes, new limited-time game mode, and bug fixes. There is also a new permanent competitive mode which is used for qualifying to the Fortnite World Cup.

Besides the changes that have been applied to live servers, the "Fortnite Battle Royale" developer has also added a lot of new files to the game data. Shortly after the patch was released, these files were found by data miners who shared their leaks with the community.

It turns out that Epic Games will soon add another weapon in the game, the explosive bow.

New bow comes to 'Fortnite's' PvP mode

Epic Games revealed the explosive bow in the Season 8 promotional image. This is the same image that revealed Pirate Cannons, treasure maps, and the special type of chest players get after finding the treasure map spot. Ember, the outfit that's unlocked at tier 71 of Season 8 Battle Pass, is seen using the upcoming bow in the image.

Data miners found a lot of interesting files in the game data recently. These files were added with the v8.20 "Fortnite Battle Royale" update, and some of those files include references to the explosive bow. It appears that the "Fortnite" developer will release the new weapon very soon as its model and animations have also been found in the game data.

In addition to this, the Week 5 loading screen includes the bow as well, and it is once again used by Ember.

As you can see in the tweet above, Epic Games has already made animations for the upcoming weapon.

Unfortunately, there aren't any details regarding the weapon's damage, ammo type, or its potential release date.

The crossbow

"Fortnite Battle Royale" players have had a chance to use the crossbow in the video game. The original crossbow was vaulted, but its different variants appeared during the Fortnitemares and the Ice King Storm events.

The crossbow was useless against buildings, but that could be changed with the upcoming weapon.

Considering that the new bow will most likely fire explosive bolts, there is a good chance that Epic Games makes it deal damage against structures, at least wooden structures. We can expect the developer to add more data to the game soon, and we will know more details about the weapon.
