Season 8 of "Fortnite Battle Royale" has finally arrived! Epic Games has put a lot of work in this season as there are some huge changes that have come with it. It includes a new Battle Pass that has numerous cosmetic items, and a lot of players have earned it for free by completing Overtime challenges at the end of Season 7.
As it was expected, the v8.0 update has brought a big update to the in-game world. The "Fortnite Battle Royale" developer has made some gameplay changes as well, and planes have been finally removed from the game.
Season 8 changes
Epic Games has added a couple of new locations to the in-game island, such as Sunny Steps and Lazy Lagoon. The volcano has finally appeared as well, and it is located where many players thought it would be, replacing Wailing Woods. "Fortnite Battle Royale" players can interact with the volcano's lava and they will have to be careful and avoid it. Lava deals one damage per touch and will cause players to bounce off the surface. Volcanic vents have also been added with this update. They will boost players and vehicles in the air.
Party Assist was also added with the update:
- Prior to a match, enable Party Assist on a Daily or Weekly challenge to complete it with the assistance of everyone in your party.
- Party members are able to provide progress to the selected challenge in addition to yourself.
- This functionality excludes "fill" players who are added into the party during matchmaking or teammates from large team modes such as Team Rumble.
Item changes
Pirate Cannon has been added with Season 8.
Players will be able to use this item to fire at their enemies, or to simply launch themselves at a distance! The cannonball deals 100 damage on a direct hit and 50 damage in a small radius for non-direct hits.
The following items have been vaulted in the new season:
- Sneaky Snowman
- Chiller Grenade
- X-4 Stormwing
- Shopping Cart
- All Terrain Kart
The "Fortnite" developer has also updated an icon for a Hunting Rifle and adjusted drop rates of Assault Rifles.
This weapon will be more available in its common and uncommon variants, while the other three variants will drop less frequently.
Bug fixes and LTM's
Epic Games has also fixed over 50 bugs with "Fortnite Battle Royale," including the bug that would cause shotguns to fire automatically or clingers to go through the walls. Additionally, 50v50 and Close Encounters have been added as limited-time game modes.
