Fortnite has finally decided to up its game as Apex Legends' shadow looms over it. Epic Games recently revealed the details for Fortnite World Cup and the total amount of the prize pool that they've set for this year, which will be mostly given during the World Cup. In 2019, Fortnite will be distributing a total of $100,000,000 during the online open qualifiers and in the actual World Cup itself.
Last year, a total of 33 official online Fortnite competitions were held in North America and Europe along with two major offline competitions that tallied to a total of $20 million in prizes which were distributed among a 1,000 players.
The recent Winter Royale competition featured almost 9,200,000 players in its 2-day qualifiers set in North America and Europe. Epic Games is looking to expand the competition to more regions this year, consequently, the prize pool will also be larger.
How does the World Cup work?
The good thing about this World Cup is that anyone can participate, although there are some age restrictions for the younger audience. Ten online open qualifiers per week will commence from April 13 and last till June 16. Each week, a sum of $1,000,000 will be on the line for players and it will be distributed evenly among them.

The best Solo players and Duo teams will battle it out in the Fortnite World Cup finals.
The finals will be held in New York City from July 26 to July 28. A total amount of $30 million rewarded during the Finals, and not only that, players who made it to the finals will receive a guaranteed prize of $50,000 and the Fortnite Solo Champion will walk away with $3 million.
Custom Challenges during the World Cup
Aside from all the competition, if you're just participating in the event for fun, Epic Games will be hosting extra events as well.
During the Fortnite World Cup Finals, Epic Games is going to host custom challenges in different modes and formats.
The rewards don't end with the Finals. Fortnite will keep rewarding players $1,000,000 in their tournaments held every week right till the end of this year. No further details about the qualifiers and the World Cup have been given yet, but more information is expected to be revealed as we get closer to the qualifiers starting date. Lastly, to be eligible to participate in the tournament, a player has to be at least 13 years old and players between the age of 13 and 17 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
