Epic Games has turned "Fortnite Battle Royale" into a worldwide sensation and the video game has been incredibly popular for almost 18 months. Unlike other battle royale video games, "Fortnite" is unique since it allows players to build different structures to protect themselves from enemies or to push opponents. The game is also free and available on almost every current-gen gaming platform, which is a big reason why it's so popular.
Many gamers believe that "Apex Legends" will surpass "Fortnite Battle Royale." The video game by Respawn Entertainment has hit the 25-million player mark in just one week, and it also had two million concurrent players.
However, Epic Games' game is still going strong and still breaking records. As a matter of fact, it had over 7 million concurrent players last week.
Fortnite is not going anywhere
In November 2018, "Fortnite Battle Royale" broke the all-time gaming record with 8.3 million concurrent players. Even back then, many players believed that the game was losing its popularity, but the truth was different. A few months later, on February 2, the video game had 10.7 million concurrent players, which is a new record. This happened during Marshmello's concert, and it is very unlikely that another game will break this record anything soon.
According to Geoff Knightley, the producer and creator of The Game Awards, Epic Games' video game hit 7.6 million concurrent players on Saturday, February 16.
This was the best non-event day in the history of this video game, and it is a proof that "Fortnite Battle Royale" is not affected by "Apex Legends."
Epic Games has now confirmed what I reported: the @marshmellomusic concert hit a peak of 10.7 million concurrent viewers. In addition last Saturday Fortnite hit 7.6 million concurrent players in game, the best “non event” day in game history. pic.twitter.com/dY7CBBmPxx

The v7.40 patch has made many players return to the game, and its creator has added a lot of perks for players.
For example, all players can now earn Season 8 Battle Pass for free, and they can also unlock additional styles for three skins from Season 7 Battle Pass. With Season 7 ending in just one week, it will be interesting to see if "Fortnite Battle Royale" can break even more records in Season 8. There is no doubt that a lot of players will be playing the game when the new season comes out, so it could hit another milestone.
Fortnite vs. Apex Legends
For the first time since its release, "Fortnite" has a serious competitor. "Apex Legends" has gotten incredibly popular and will have a tough fight with the other game. For all players who enjoy the battle royale genre, this is a great thing as both developers will give their best to increase and keep their playerbase.
