Epic Games is slowly introducing "Fortnite Battle Royale" players to the eighth season of the popular video game. The game has gone a long way since its release in September 2017 and it looks so much different now than it looked back then. Its creator has released numerous updates, changing the map, adding and removing items, and making some big gameplay changes. Throughout this period, players have had a chance to earn some exclusive cosmetic items with different seasons.

Currently, "Fortnite Battle Royale" is in Season 7, and Season 8 starts in a week from now.

While Epic Games hasn't revealed much about it so far, here is everything you should know about the upcoming season.

Season 8 theme

The "Fortnite" developer hasn't officially announced what the Season 8 theme is going to be. However, we believe that it is going to be about the underwater world. Season 7 was about snow and ice and considering that the snow is slowly melting, we might get some big areas that are covered by water. In addition, there have been a lot of earthquakes players have been able to witness, so there is a chance that the cracks in the ground will give us access to the underwater world.

The Battle Pass

Season 8 Battle Pass will feature thematic cosmetic items, so it will be interesting to see what these are.

It is important to note that "Fortnite Battle Royale" players can earn the Battle Pass for free. This can be done by completing 13 Overtime challenges before the current season ends.

Players who don't complete these challenges will have to buy the Battle Pass. So far, each Battle Pass has cost 950 V-Bucks, which is the equivalent of 10 US Dollars, so we can assume that the next Battle Pass is gonna have the same price.

Season 8 release date

Considering that Season 7 lasts for seven more days, we can expect Epic Games to release Season 8 on Thursday, February 28. The video game developer has already released a few patches on Thursday, so this timing would make a lot of sense.

We expect the upcoming season to last for 10 weeks, which means it should end around May 9, which is Thursday again.

The build-up event

Epic Games has decided to use earthquakes as the build-up event for Season 8. There have been a lot of earthquakes which have left cracks in the ground, and it will be interesting to see what their purpose is going to be in the next season. Additionally, we might get a bigger event before the next season starts.
