Epic Games has brought several big gameplay changes to "Fortnite Battle Royale" in the last few months, and it seems that even more changes will come by the end of the fifth season. The game developer recently announced a developer update, revealing some of the upcoming changes that will be released next week. Once again, these changes will force players to change their approach and strategy, and some players will not like them.

Patch 5.40 will most likely be released on Tuesday, September 4, unless the game developer decides to postpone it. This will be the first patch in September, and possibly the last big patch in season five, so gamers can expect it to be huge.

According to the developer update, there will be many changes in the patch, and "Fortnite Battle Royale" players will also get a new mobility item.

New 'Fortnite' item

Eric Williamson, Epic Games' lead developer, announced several big changes that will come with patch 5.40 next week. Some of these changes will affect gameplay, while some of them will affect items and weapons that are already in the game. The lead developer mentioned that "Fortnite Battle Royale" players will get a "new mobility item" with the next patch, though no further details were given.

Considering that Rift-to-Go was recently added to the game, many players believe that the next item will be Pool Floaty. This item was leaked at the start of season five, but the game developer still hasn't released it.

Pool Floaty's description is as follows: "Inflatable pool floaty. Poke a hole to send yourself flying!" This item sounds similar to Rift-to-Go, but it seems that players won't gain as much elevation as they do from the recently added mobility item.

With a few more days left until the patch, no one but Epic Games knows exactly what the new item will be.

However, this could very easily be the last item added in the fifth season of "Fortnite Battle Royale."

More gameplay changes

Epic Games announced some important gameplay changes that will be added with next week's patch. In general, these changes should improve the overall balance of the game and make it more interesting.

The biggest change is the storm damage to player-built structures in the final stages of the game. However, there will also be some stacking and weapon changes. For example, players will be allowed to carry three Shield Potions instead of two, and chests will drop two Boogie Bombs.
