Epic Games has announced that season 5 of "Fortnite Battle Royale" will start on July 12 at 4:00 AM EDT. While the game developer hasn't revealed too many details about the upcoming season, players know what will happen thanks to datamined game files. These files reveal some important information about season 5, including its theme, new places and map changes, and much more.
The TwoEpicBuddies Twitter account has been the most reliable datamining account for "Fortnite Battle Royale" information. The user has done a great job leaking upcoming skins, features, events, and season 5 details.
The account recently posted an image of what looks like a possible map for the upcoming season. Unsurprisingly, the majority of the revealed map is covered by sand and it's safe to say that players will get a desert biome in the next season.
The revealed map
The Twitter user posted a video of himself playing on the leaked "Fortnite Battle Royale" map. It looks similar to the existing map, except that grass is replaced by sand. Whoever plays the PvE mode of "Fortnite" knows that the video game already has some sand textures in the files, and it seems these textures will be used in the PvP mode as well.
According to the recent leaks, there will be a few areas of the map that will be covered by sand.
For example, the motel that is located west of Anarchy Acres will be turned into a Wild West zone. Additionally, the soccer field, which is close to the motel, will be turned into a pyramid with sand and dunes around it.
The image below shows the "Fortnite Battle Royale" map that was revealed by the Twitter account. As you can see, the majority of it is a desert, and it looks like the grass was replaced by sand.

However, considering that the season 5 map will constantly evolve, it would not be a surprise to see Epic Games make some small map changes at the beginning and follow that with a couple of big changes. "Fortnite Battle Royale" players witnessed many map changes in season 4, so it would make sense for the game developer to stick to that strategy.
Season 5 teaser images
Epic Games released two teaser images for the upcoming season. The first image is a mask that looks like a Japanese Kitsune Yokai mask. According to Wiki, "some tales speak of kitsune with even greater powers, able to bend time and space, drive people mad, or take fantastic shapes such as a tree of incredible height or a second moon in the sky." Considering that the fifth season will be introduced with rifts on the sky, this mask makes perfect sense and could be one of the skins players obtain via the season 5 Battle Pass.

The second image shows an axe that looks like a Viking axe. Data miners have already discovered some more Viking items in the game files, so it's safe to say that this will be one of the themes in the next "Fortnite Battle Royale" season.
