The latest updates for "Red Dead Redemption 2" will feature new DLC plans for the sequel. Take-Two Interactive President Karl Slatoff and several chief financial officers gave their insights on the business model and the state of DLC development in Video Games, according to Gamerant This was at the Cowan and Company 46th Annual Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference.
The new title will feature a new chapter in the open-world western game as players assume the role of Arthur Morgan, a member of the famed Vander Linde Gang.
Arthur must help his crew survive the wild west as they are being hunted by federal agents and bounty hunters across the land.
DLC for 'Red Dead Redemption 2'
According to Karl Slatoff, traditional DLC for video games can still have an effective marketing strategy despite the recent rise of online or subscription-based services. His comments suggest that Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games are planning to add DLC updates for "Red Dead Redemption 2." Video game fans speculated that DLC for the sequel and its possible online counterpart will be similar to "Grand Theft Auto 5."
However, Slatoff's views on microtransactions are different despite the fact that "RDR 2" has been confirmed to have microtransactions, but every game must be approached on a case-by-case basis.
If Slatoff is not convinced of the idea of microtransactions, there is a chance that the sequel will have a single-player DLC.
Given the fact that development team for "RDR2" and "GTA 5" is separate, perhaps this an opportunity for the sequel's development team to create DLCs that are unique and innovated for the game, differentiating them from the "GTA" series.
PC port and no more delays for 'RDR2'
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick promised video game fans that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will not be delayed from its official launch date on October 26. He told "Mad Money" host Jim Cramer on CNBC that fans should not worry too much about the development, and he and his team are confident that they can make it.
Zelnick also teased the possibility that "RDR2" will be ported to the PC platform after the success of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. He stated that having the sequel in the PC is an important piece of the game's digital distribution.
The sequel will feature a heist system that lets players plan and strategizes their way inside a bank. Either they do it stealthfully and smoothly, or go in guns blazing. Side-missions can be played by talking to NPCs in camp or in town.
