Brawlout” is currently out on PC and will be released on consoles soon. The developer, Angry Mob Games, announced that they will be releasing the game on PlayStation 4 in early 2018. If you can't wait that long it’s going to be released as early as December 19 on Nintendo Switch. Keep in mind that the GameCube controller adapter that launched for the Wii U is compatible with the Nintendo Switch, so you will be able to use your GameCube controllers to play "Brawlout" on the Nintendo Switch.

The developers also stated that Juan, the protagonist from DrinkBox Studios’ “Guacamelee!,” is going to be added to the roster with all his original movesets.

A party fighting game

For those who haven’t heard of “Brawlout,” the game is a party fighting game that features two to six players fighting against each other similar to “Super Smash Bros.” It has already launched on Steam as an early access game and will be releasing on all three consoles early 2018. Nerdmuch describes each map as visually stunning in detail and color palette. Unlike normal Platform Fighter games, “Brawlout” doesn’t allow blocking and grabbing.

It has a combo-based system and includes a Rage Meter. As the players fight, the Rage Meter goes up and it allows players to use powerful and unique attacks.

In an interview with Shoryuken CEO of Angry Mob Games, Bogdan Iliesiu stated that although the game is based on the platform fighting genre, the fighting game mechanics were inspired by more traditional fights from “Street Fighter,” “Tekken,” and “Mortal Kombat.” He goes on to say that the game has more fast-paced battles, faster movement and a lot more aggressive combat style for all the characters compared to “Super Smash Bros.

Host up to four players in online and local battles

The game includes six unique characters, with their own unique fighting style.

The developer hasn't announced a final roster number and has stated that they will be regularly adding new features to the game. Along with the character Juan, players can also play the Drifter from “Hyper Light Drifter.” Iliesiu stated that he fit into the Brawlout universe perfectly and they made sure to remain true to the character’s abilities, using his iconic light sword and making his dash a character specific move. Players can go to the “Brawlout” website to read up on all the character's bios and skills.

Single player mode allows players to practice combos and complete tutorials to get used to the characters. Multiplayer mode allows up to four players to compete in either timed, stock, or team matches either online or custom lobbies for just you and your friends.

There's also "Brawlout" TV which allows players to check personal fight stats, match history, and view replays, with live spectating. Angry Mob has promised that there will be more modes on the way, including a story campaign.

Long-term plans include online tournaments

Iliesiu stated that once they launch on consoles the studio plans to host tournaments in Europe and North America. They have hosted tournaments at past events and they’ve had a great reception. The studio plans to raise the prize pools as the community grows and more top players rise up to pro status.
