"Pokémon Ultra Sun" and "Pokémon Ultra Moon" are the next Pokémon games to be released on the Nintendo 3Ds. The release date is set for the 17 November 2017, and the games have been available for pre-order for a while. The games are said to be an alternative storyline to their predecessors, "Pokémon Sun and Moon." They're the second installments in the seventh generation of the main series of Pokémon games, and they're planned to be the last game released for the main series on Nintendo 3DS.
Details
The new versions of the game are set in Aloha, a region based on Hawaii. Alongside the modified storyline, the games will include new characters, new Pokémon forms, and some new gameplay features that didn't exist in the original "Sun" and "Moon" games.
As it has been with previous games in the series, the storyline follows a trainer on their journey, across the region, to become a Pokémon Master. The games feature new forms of the legendary Necrozma: Dusk Mane Necrozma, and Dawn Wings Necrozma.
For your first Pokémon, you'll have the same choice of Litten, Rowlet, or Popplio.
Features
When you put on your sunglasses at The Battle Agency, you become one of their "agents", and you can have fun battling in Singles matches using rented Pokémon.
The Pokémon you can rent for these battles will increase as you mix with other players around you or over the internet, so connecting with other players is encouraged.
You’ll also be able to collect Totem Stickers all around Alola. Based on how many stickers you collect, you’ll be able to get a large, totem-like Pokémon for your team. For example, you can get Lurantis as an ally in "Pokémon Ultra Sun" or Salazzle in "Pokémon Ultra Moon".
The Rotom Dex is a special item. It’s a Pokédex, but with a Rotom inside (Rotom is a Pokémon that is able to enter electronic devices.) The more you communicate with Rotom, the more they develop. Even Rotom’s personality will change based on how you communicate with them.
One of the functions of the Rotom Dex will be a QR Scanner, which will have various applications in the game.
With Alola Photo Club, you'll be able to choose Pokémon to appear together with you in a photograph, as well as your outfit, the background, camera angle, and more. These images will be shareable through the communication features, and taking a photo will a Pokémon will have a positive effect on their affection for you.
Ultra
You'll be able to ride on the backs of Solgaleo or Lunala through Ultra Wormholes. Within an Ultra Wormhole, there are warp holes that lead to different worlds. By traveling through an Ultra Wormhole, you can reach Ultra Megalopolis. Within this world is a mysterious tower, but what could be at the top?
You won't only find the Ultra Beasts in the worlds beyond the Wormhole, all Legendary Pokémon are ready and waiting for you, and they can even change forms once their hidden power is released. You may also come across the Ultra Recon Squad, a strange group that has come from one of the worlds that lie inside an Ultra Wormhole.
Rocket
A new kind of Team Rocket is back with this new installation of the series: Team Rainbow Rocket! This team is made up of all of the bosses from previous villainous teams, headed by Giovanni, who you may recall from the original "Pokémon Red" and "Pokémon Blue", the very first games in the series.
Bonus
Players that buy the download version of "Pokémon Ultra Sun" or "Pokémon Ultra Moon" will receive 12 Quick Balls, if you download one of these games from Nintendo eShop by 10th January 2018.
There won't be just one new world for you to discover with these new Pokémon games.
