There’s no doubt that “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” is one of the most talked about titles in recent memory. In fact, it continues to break record after record. The title will most likely become one of the greats in history.

According to GameSpot, “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” just set a brand new record in terms of users on Steam. The new figure significantly surpasses the previous record, giving the title’s popularity a huge boost. Well, here is everything about it in a nutshell.

New user pool reached

Apparently, the “Hunger Games”-themed PC title just acquired more concurrent users compared to its previous record.

It is unlike any other game in Steam history, making the game a bit more interesting for would-be buyers. It now sits at 1,348,374 users, as on September 16, moving past the previous record of 1,291,328 courtesy of Valve’s “DOTA 2” back in March last year. All of the figures came from the Steam Charts, so, in one way or another, they may not be accurate. Regardless, though, it cannot be denied that the title is a hit game. Remember that just last week, it passed the one million concurrent user mark.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” is currently in development. However, it is already being sold through the uber-popular Steam Early Access. Players and fans can buy it for $30. “DOTA 2,” on the other hand, is a free-to-play game, which Valve heavily promoted since day one.

But with the recent changes, it only spiraled up “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’” popularity.

Sets new record

At present, “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds" has already sold more than 10 million copies. Developed by Bluehole, the game is meant to be released on Xbox One later this year. Microsoft will be its publisher, though both of the companies have yet to provide a specific date.

Bluehole, in particular, made it clear that the game would arrive on other platforms, too. But as far as further details are concerned, they all remain unknown.

In related news, the main creator of “PlayerUnUnknown's Battlegrounds” - Brendan Greene - recently talked about his vision for the game’s future. He envisions reaching a player pool of 100 million players, something that is actually achievable.

This is considering the fact that the title is growing as each day passes by. Interestingly, Greene has some good news for the fans of the game. He promised that the title’s price won't be raised as soon as it leaves Steam’s Early Access. This is a common strategy by almost all developers. This is definitely an interesting thing to look forward to and players have a whole new reason to support the game.
