“Overwatch” is slated to get a lot of new updates very soon, and they’ve just delivered their first batch of content. The previous PTR patch has just hit the live servers, bringing all of the changes along with it. This new Update brought the highly-anticipated Deathmatch mode along with a new map. Similarly, a few other heroes have gotten some changes, making them more viable in battle. Let’s take a look at the patch notes for the latest “Overwatch” patch posted by Blizzard.
Deathmatch mode
At first, Blizzard wasn’t too keen about including a Deathmatch mode in “Overwatch” back during BlizzCon 2016.
However, with the addition of the arcade mode, they have gotten the opportunity to mix and match several game modes together. In line with this, we’ve seen modes like zero gravity, capture the flag, 3v3 battles, total mayhem, seasonal brawls, and so much more. Now, we’re finally getting treated to the Deathmatch arcade mode that pits you against seven other players.
There are two modes to this new arcade mode: Free-For-All and Team Deathmatch. The former puts you on a small stage filled with seven other players. The main objective here is to score 20 kills the fastest, but you’ll get deducted to you fall off the map. Meanwhile, Team Deathmatch is the traditional 6v6 mode where you have to score 30 kills first.
However, Mercy’s rez comes into play as she can deduct enemy points with it. The “Overwatch” Deathmatch mode also includes a new map called Château Guillard with some tidbits on Widowmaker’s past.
Hero Changes
Moving on, the hero changes have also hit the live servers. These buffs will certainly improve how these characters will play out, and will maybe even bring them in the upcoming meta.
Firstly, Junkrat now has two charges to his Concussion Mine while his RIP-Tire moves 30 percent faster with no time limit when wall climbing. Orisa, on the other hand, has a more rapid fire rate by 20 percent while her barrier has become bigger.
Roadhog has gotten a buff as well, following his major nerf. His Take a Breather can be used while walking and even reduces damage by 50 percent while in use.
This should make him more of a tank despite lacking any shields or armor. Finally, the cooldown on Widowmaker’s grapple has been reduced from 11 to 8 seconds, while her Venom Mine now gives her a slight wall hack if it affects its target. You can download the latest “Overwatch” patch now on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
