Niantic has finally released the first-year anniversary event in “Pokemon GO.” It brought a handful of exciting stuff, but they are not really interesting enough. It seems the anniversary event is merely a regular one.

Nevertheless, there is a Pikachu that wears Ash Ketchum’s trademark hat and, more importantly, there is the Anniversary Box in “Pokemon GO.” The box, however, is for sale in the in-game store and contains items that players can use in their journey. Here is everything about it in a nutshell.

Introducing the Anniversary Box

According to Forbes, the Anniversary Box offers 6 incubators, 6 Max Revives, 20 Ultra Balls and 2 Premium Raid passes.

It is being sold at a price of $9.99, which equals to around 1200 Pokecoins. Sure, there is a discount if players decide to buy more, but it is not really that compelling. It is safe to say that it is not the kind of discount that players might expect from a huge event like this.

Basically, buying the box would help “Pokemon GO” players save Pokecoins. If the value of the contents are to be summed, it totals to 1380 Pokecoins. This means players can save at least 180 (or $2.00 in real currency) Pokecoins if they decide to buy the box instead. Most players will definitely agree that the discount value is not just anniversary worthy. Sad to say, there is really nothing that can be done, as this is what Niantic wants.

What players are expecting

It cannot be denied that the first-year anniversary of “Pokemon GO” means a lot to the community. It symbolizes a year full of exciting experiences and memories, but these seem not to be the case in the game right now. Most players thought that an exciting feature will arrive, but alas, Niantic opted to unleash a special kind of Pikachu.

But perhaps the biggest upset is the absence of the Legendary creatures, something that players thought would be added during the game’s first birthday.

Niantic, however, did iterate that Legendary pocket monsters would arrive in “Pokemon GO” sometime in the summer. Since the game’s anniversary somehow falls within this timeline, players believe the event would finally introduce the special beasts.

After all, it would have been a huge surprise, considering the anticipation players have with these creatures. With their absence, it now remains a mystery once again if the studio still plans to unleash these beasts. Of course, they should, as the Pokemon are part of the game after all.
