Kingdom Hearts 3” co-creator and co-director Tetsuya Nomura revealed important details about the new game during the recent D23 Expo 2017. He revealed truths about the leaked "KH 2.9," new worlds, characters, gameplay features, and more.

In an interview with IGN, Nomura revealed 8 different cool things about their new game entry. They include the features revealed below.

1 Will they release a new 'Kingdom Hearts 2.9?'

Kingdom Hearts 2.9” was rumored for release before the “KH3.” A LinkedIn profile even claimed that it is currently in development for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

However, it never came into existence.

The game’s epilogue cutscene was even labeled “2.9: The First Volume.” It brings everybody to the present where Mickey and Riku chose to save Aqua from the Dark World. Meanwhile, Kairi decided to train with Lea to become a key blade master. This hyped up fans for an upcoming “Kingdom Hearts 2.9” that delivers a sequence leading to the new game.

To give light about these leaks, Nomura revealed that the “2.9: The First Volume” connects to the upcoming game. However, the bridge between the previous and the new entry is already linked, so there will be no 2.9 before “Kingdom Hearts 3.” “We are now leading up towards Kingdom Hearts III," said Nomura.

2 The link between Organization XIII and Maleficent revealed

During the D23 Expo, it was revealed that the Organization III and Maleficent work independently. They neither cooperate nor fight with each other. They will not bother each other and will just focus doing their own thing. Maleficent and Pete will aim for the black box at the Olympus.

Sora, on the other hand, will clash with the 13 Darkness.

3 The return of Roxas

In “Kingdom Hearts 3,” Ansem and Xemnas were already defeated, but they still co-exist. This proves that a Heartless and Nobody can exist at the same time. With this, Sora is being questioned about Roxas’ revival. He can utilize the power of darkness to bring Roxas back.

4 What is Kairi’s story?

Nomura also mentioned about a new story scene from the “Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour.” He unveiled that Kairi will be in a limitless environment where she can train and become a Keyblade wielder. The upcoming game will therefore also feature those who are currently training.

5 The return of character summons

The new entry will also bring back character summons, which was allowed in the past games. Moreover, the game will also feature Attraction Flow, which they have shown in different game trailers.

6 New worlds will be featured.

Tetsuya Nomura also revealed that the upcoming game will also feature new worlds. It includes the Olympus Coliseum from Disney franchise, Big Hero 6, Tangled and Toy Story.

7 Will there be a unique gameplay for each world?

The four “Kingdom Hearts 3” worlds will have different features. It will offer a unique gameplay experience to each player.

8 Improved Flowmotion revealed

The upcoming “KH 3” will also feature Flowmotion that is now referred as the Athletic Flow. It will allow navigation between worlds, which was prohibited in the previous entries. Unlike the previous Flowmotion, Athletic flow is a refined one which is easier to control.
