At this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), developer Studio Wildcard announced that “Ark Survival Evolved” would soon leave Steam’s Early Access program. This is because it is nearing completion and is set to be launch as an official title. Interestingly, the studio also made an announcement involving a certain mod in the game.
This is basically the Ragnarok Mod expansion, which is a direct result of the Sponsored Mod program in “Ark Survival Evolved.” The video game company announced that the map would soon arrive as an official map of the game.
However, it was only recently that the studio revealed the release date of the map on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Part a new update
Just recently, Studio Wildcard introduced a brand new update to the hit dino-themed game. Unfortunately, though, it did not include the aforementioned map, as the update was mainly focused on bringing fixes and improvements, among others. This obviously made some fans unsatisfied, as they were highly anticipating the arrival of the expansion. Apparently, they may soon be able to get hold of the said expansion.
According to MobiPicker, the development team recently hinted the possible release date of the new map on the console version of “Ark Survival Evolved.” It is said to be released later on this month, though no exact date yet.
Interestingly though, the studio is set to release a new update on the PlayStation 4 platform. Although there is a possibility of the map arriving via this update, it still remains to be a mystery.
A previous announcement
It holds true, though, that Studio Wildcard intends to release the Ragnarok expansion in “Ark Survival Evolved” come July 19.
However, this still depends on the certification process that the update would undergo on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is worth noting that in previous updates, the process would usually require a day or two, delaying the updates’ release. The studio further iterated that they plan to release the update come July 12 in order to release the new map on the previously announced date.
The developers of “Ark Survival Evolved” assured the fans that delays like these are temporary and that these should be reduced in the next few weeks or so. Well, the studio better be, as they want to protect the hype relating to the official release of the title. Enthusiasts, on the other hand, explain that delays on updates are normal if and only if the reason behind is the certification process. This has nothing to do with the studio’s competency, as such process can only be determined by console manufacturers such as Sony and Microsoft.
