Dan Crenshaw tried to make a funny during the Super Bowl with a Tweet. The social media site had a bit of a field day responding to that tweet.
Should someone propose a 70% tax on the Patriots so that NFL competition is more fair and equal? Asking for a friend.

School by the person he was aiming at
Crenshaw's tweet was supposed to be a slight aimed at Ocasio-Cortez. She fired back and won the night.
The average NFL salary is $2.1 million, so most players would never experience a 70% rate.

The owners who refuse to hire Kaepernick would, though. https://t.co/AnST2lCiU9
Socialism, not capitalism
One user pointed out Crenshaw didn't even know the economic policy he was talking about.
The NFL has revenue sharing, a salary cap (and team spending floors), and a player entry draft designed to reward the weakest teams. That's socialism, not capitalism. https://t.co/Hfz0Dt9Lvj

The double whammy
This Twitter user pointed out that Crenshaw was lost on a number of issues.
I've seen politicians make it clear they don't understand sports, and I've seen ones make it clear they don't understand taxes, but I'm not sure I've ever seen someone do both at once. Congrats!

Asking for himself?
This Twitter user schooled Crenshaw about the snarky way he asked his question in the first place.
I'm not sure which is worse.

1) You've never heard of a salary cap.
2) You think progressive taxes tax all income at the highest rate.
3) Snarkily using "Asking for a friend" about something you actually don't understand.
Playing the guessing game
This state representative made it clear he wasn't finding Crenshaw's comment all that funny.
You know it takes even less than 140 characters to just say: “I’m in Congress but still don’t know what I’m talking about!” See, so much more efficient that making us “guess” everytime you tweet.
