A selection of 6 scary horror movies for Halloween

Halloween is the time of the year when the fear syndrome rules supreme and people love to watch horror movies to get into the feel of things.


Psycho (1960)

Alfred Hitchcock is the master of suspense, horror and thrillers and his “Psycho” of 1960 is still a remarkable movie and in a genre of its own. Its cast includes big names like Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, and Vera Miles and can even today haunt the viewers. It will remain on the top of the list of movies that can scare.


The Exorcist (1973)

This is another horror movie that is difficult to ignore. It seems some evil spirit takes possession of a 12-year-old girl. Her mother is an actress and is scared to see the sudden change in the behavior of her daughter. She seeks the help of two priests to bring child back to normal. William Friedkin directed “The Exorcist.”


Halloween (1978)

The story of the film is about a six-year-old boy murdering his 17-year-old sister. It happens on a cold Halloween night in 1963. The boy was sentenced and was locked away for 15 years. However, he steals a car and escapes while being transferred for a court date after 15 years. John Carpenter directed the movie “Halloween” and it is a film without any (literal) blood.


Friday the 13th (1980)

The date “Friday the 13th ” itself is ominous. A group of counsellors arrives at a summer camp where death awaits them. It seems the tragedy strikes after entrepreneur Steve Christie reopens the site that had been shut for years. Sean S. Cunningham produced and directed the movie while Victor Miller was the writer. It stars Betsy Palmer and Adrienne King.


A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

The story is about a young girl who has to remain awake throughout the night to save herself from the claws of a killer. “A Nightmare on Elm Street” is written and directed by Wes Craven, and produced by Robert Shaye and was the first movie with Johnny Depp. He stars alongside Heather Langenkamp.


The Conjuring (2013)

This is another scary movie and involved Rod and Carolyn. They discover their pet dog dead under mysterious circumstances, and get a feeling that some evil spirit is out to harm their daughter Andrea. They invite investigators to solve the problem. James Wan has directed “The Conjuring” and Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes are the writers.
