Will the Rick and Morty pub live up to the hype?
Vice.com got a sneak peek into the themed Rick and Morty pub and they went along to see if it would live up to the hype, or if it was just a tacky effort to part people with their money.
These things do happen, as Rick and Morty know very well, in their wacky world. They discovered a range of Rick and Morty fan thrillers like "Mega Tree lamps, a replica of Rick's flying car made from actual garbage, and a box of "Time Travel Stuff."' Throw in the "animatronic Cromulon head," and there sure is a lot of "art" to sell off when it's all done and dusted.
A place where fans can enjoy themselves and dress up as Rick
The place is a pub, but people don't have to get smashed. It's pretty much a place where fans and "come and enjoy themselves,” CEO Angie Fetherston told Vice. But Washingtonian noted that these pop-up bars can become very busy. This one, which revolves around the animated sci-fi story of mad scientist Rick and his grandson Morty is full of reminders of their adventures as they travel through alternate dimensions, so it will be popular.
However, there is a way to fast-track your way in, but you have to dress up as the main characters. Ordinary non-time travelers will have to wait for space at the 7th Street NW venue.
If that's not your thing, there are other themed pubs and restaurants
Of course, there is no shortage of themed beer and pub fare outlets in Washington DC.
If Rick and Morty is beyond your understanding, or not your thing, there's the Madhatter, with an Alice in Wonderland theme. It's complete with an upside-down room. If that's a bit too much to cope with, you can always try the Mythology Lounge which features an old lore theme and serves decent meals off a unique and varied menu.
Would you dress up as Rick and go to a themed pub?
Fans of the show will likely not even have to consider this question. There are millions of them from London to Cape Town to the USA and beyond. But if you are not a Rick and Morty fan, you may still enjoy the artwork and the decor. But remember that half the problems in Rick's life center around his alcoholic leanings, and drinking too much can complicate your life terribly. Drink responsibly, don't drink and drive and stay off the booze if you are pregnant or on medication.
