If for whatever reason, you are not in a position to travel this year, there is no reason to despair. You can Enjoy Summer Fun right in your own Backyard. By exerting a little creativity, you will be able to relax and have fun without leaving your home. When you understand that a vacation is a state of mind, and you are not intimidated by those who can travel out of town or out of state, you can appreciate the joys in your own section of the world.

Backyard Summer Pleasures

If you do not own a swimming pool there are still ways for your family to keep cool this summer. You can purchase a slip and slide, an inflatable pool, super soakers, water guns, or attach sprinklers to a water hose. You can even put on your bathing suits and play old school games. Take turns having someone hold their finger over the water hose to give it a sprinkler effect and chase the others through the yard spraying them. You can even fill up buckets of water and pour them on each other. Run barefoot through the backyard during a summer rain but make sure there is no thunder or lightning.

Consider having a picnic, cookout, or a party in your backyard and invite friends and family.

There does not even need to be a special occasion. Getting together with loved ones to eat is always relaxing. Play your favorite music and make sure there are plenty of people to help prepare and clean up. Don't forget to have games for the children and plenty of outdoor toys.

Relax and enjoy yourself at your own home

In the evening, take a shower and put on something cool then sit on your back porch, deck, patio or front porch and enjoy the evening atmosphere and or a summer breeze.

Be sure to always have a refreshing drink ready such as lemonade or iced tea. Eat your meals on decorative paper plates and drink from matching plastic cups and make every day festive. Make slushies and freezes by putting your favorite drinks in the freezer. Make some popcorn and watch a favorite seasonal movie and always have ice cream or sherbert on hand.

Invest in summer-themed tablecloths, bedspreads, and window curtains to give your entire house an atmosphere that relates to warmer weather. If funds are limited, check out thrift stores or check with relatives who may have items you need in a closet or attic. Curl up in your favorite spot with a good book to read when you want some alone time. You can be creative and transform your entire home and yard into the relaxing warm weather enjoyment that others must leave town for and spend a lot of money on.
