During the entire month of August, there are things available to the public at no cost. The Freebies cover a range of things that people can get to eat, drink, and enjoy in other ways. Look through this list of things and notice the dates when they are available.

Things to eat and drink

Starbucks is offering a Macchiato drink with a purchase. Stop by any Starbucks from August 3 through August 7 between 2-5 p.m. It is not a requirement, but it would be a sweet gesture to take your best friend with you on International Friendship Day on August 6 so both of you can enjoy the refreshing treat together.

If there is a Firehouse Sub shop in your area, stop by on August 5 for a Free sandwich. While you are there, you can donate bottled water in exchange for a free medium submarine sandwich. The bottles of water will be donated to first responders and community groups. They will give the water to people who need it during the hot days of summer.

Because August 6 is National Root Beer Float Day, A&W is giving away a small root beer float when you make any purchase. This will be a delicious treat.

Olive Garden is giving away an entrée this month. The restaurant wants you to eat one while dining in, and you can take the other one with you to eat in the comfort of your own home. The available entrées are listed on the restaurant's website.

Every Tuesday this month through August 29, customers can get a doggie bagel for their dog with any purchase at Einstein Bros.

Other days for freebies

Free things are not limited to what you can eat and drink. You can go bowling free on August 12 on National Bowling Day. Check the National Bowling Day website for the bowling alleys in your area that are giving away a game.

Make sure you take advantage of tax-free days for back-to-school supplies. There are designated days for this during August.

Because the National Park Service is celebrating its 101st birthday, it is offering free admission to all 400 national parks on August 25. Some of the other parks are free all year long.

Shop at JC Penney the entire month and get a $10 reward toward your next purchase if you download the department store's app.
