For Apple, the attention right now is on the new iPhones many consumers are eager to get. That includes the iPhone X, the expensive device that comes with a plethora of new features such as the TrueDepth Camera that will support the device’s advanced biometric security Face ID.

Through the years, Apple loyalists have noticed most of the features iPhones have would normally be carried on to their iPads. According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Ipad Pro 2018 model will follow the same route.

Aware that Apple and Android devices continue to move forward with technological advancements, it comes as no surprise that the next Apple tablet may come out with a TrueDepth camera and will support Face ID.

As pointed out by Mac Rumors, this feature is in line with the company’s drive to boost competitiveness.

TrueDepth Camera limited to iPad Pros

Though only a prediction, for now, the feature singled out by Kuo is only limited to the iPad Pro. Being the main flagship tablet device, that could make sense. However, the new technology is expected to rub off on the 2018 iPhone models.

If so, this move is expected to become a wakeup call for Android device manufacturers as well. Kuo anticipates the trend, believing that most companies will start to research facial recognition and similar TrueDepth cameras to keep in step with the Cupertino company’s progress. Of the two features, the analyst adds that competitors may have a lot of ground to cover – roughly 2.5 years.

A first glimpse of the new technology is expected by Nov. 3, the day when the iPhone X is officially released to the public. Consumers are likely to check them out, feedback of which will be critical as Apple keeps its fingers crossed for possible issues. Being a new feature, it remains to be seen if the TrueDepth camera and Face ID will hit it off well or malfunction.

As for the iPad Pro 2018, there is no official word on when it will be up for release. A safe bet is by the first half of 2018. The last update for it happened last June, where a 10.5-inch model with slimmer bezels and new display technology came out. Aside from the possible addition of the camera and Face ID, potential buyers are expecting more features for the Apple tablet.

Leaks on what to expect are likely in the coming months.

For now, the attention is on the iPhone X and all its impressive specs. That includes a new OLED display, the camera system, and a 2,691 mAh battery that should keep it powered up for longer spells according to BGR.
