This offseason, Kevin Durant took a pay cut so that the Warriors could hold on to Andre Iguodala. The upcoming expiring contract for the Warriors is Klay Thompson in 2019, and he has already opened up about sacrificing money to keep the team together. With the NBA season about to begin, players will be able to focus once again on the game of basketball.

Thompson willing to sacrifice a few million

Mitch Lawrence of Forbes.com has reported that Klay Thompson is very open about taking a little pay cut so that the Warriors organization can hold on to their current core.

But he added that it won't be as large as the sacrifice Kevin Durant made since he does not make as much money as Kevin Durant does off the court. Klay Thompson just recently signed a four-year 70 million dollar deal last 2015, which makes him a free agent in the summer of 2019.

Klay Alexander Thompson played three years in college for Washington State before entering the NBA. In college, he averaged 17.9 points, 0.7 blocks, 1.3 steals, 2.6 assists, and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 42.4 percent from the field and 39 percent from beyond the arc.

Klay Thompson entered the NBA in the offseason of 2011 where he was drafted with the 11th overall pick by the Golden State Warriors. He has played a total of six seasons in the NBA and of them is with the Golden State Warriors.

At the age of 27 Thompson is already a three-time NBA All-Star and a two-time NBA Champion. He has career averages of 19.1 points, 0.5 blocks, 0.9 steals, 2.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 45.3 percent from the field, 41.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 85.3 percent from the charity stripe.

Denver and Minnesota win on day one of preseason games

The NBA preseason games began two days ago with the Denver Nuggets facing the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves facing the Los Angeles Lakers. The Denver Nuggets were able to pull off a 108-102 victory against the defending champions due to the struggles of the Warriors three-point shooting.

Paul Millsap played a huge game with 22 points and 11 rebounds that helped the Nuggets to defeat the Warriors. With Nikola Jokic improving at a fast pace and the addition of Millsap, the Denver Nuggets are looking pretty solid next season.

The Minnesota TImberwolves were also able to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers with the score 108-99. Brook Lopez and Luol Deng did not play while Jimmy Butler and Jeff Teague suited up for the game. Shabazz Muhammad leads all scorers with 22 points, Gorgui Dieng had a game-high 12 rebounds, and Jeff Teague threw out nine assists.
