Jessica Chastain isn't only one not happy with CBS and lack of female leads

According to The Wrap, the network came under fire for its lack of diversity at a Television Critics Association's press conference on Tuesday, August 1. Thom Sherman, senior executive vice president of programming, said that the network successfully has a "broad appeal" and they wish to continue with this. Sherman added that CBS did have shows with female leads last year, saying the shows simply weren't liked as much as those with male leads and putting the current all male lineup down to the "cycle of business". Kelly Kahl, CBS Entertainment president, admitted that while the network is making progress in terms of diversity, it is still behind other networks such as FX.

According to the Daily Mail, the fall lineup on CBS includes male leads David Boreanaz, Shemar Moore, Mark Feuerstein, Bobby Moynihan, Jeremy Piven, Jim Parsons and Iain Armitage. CBS bosses were also asked why their casting team only consists of white individuals, with Sherman replying that the team has been together for a long time.

Chastain spoke recently about why she won't dye her hair for a role

Jessica Chastain also recently revealed why her hair color never changes. The actress, who is famed for her fiery red locks, reportedly told Refinery29 that her hair is what makes her "special". According to US Weekly, the star told the publication that she used to hate being different as a child and that she was mocked for having red hair and freckles.

However, Chastain said that the things that make us different are the things that we eventually come to celebrate. The actress added that if a role requires her to have a different hair color, she simply uses a wig. Chastain said that wearing wigs helps her to get into character and "transform".
