During the vacation, he meets Elio, a 17-year-old American-Italian boy (played by Timothee Chalamet) who is also making a visit to his family's villa. The internship of Oliver for Elio's father became a start of their relationship. Elio magically falls in love with Oliver.

Early on in the trailer, Elio is paying attention to Oliver as the latter is making out with a beautiful woman while dancing. After a short while, the two found time alone for themselves. In their romantic conversation, Oliver insinuates that the Elio seems to be a know-it-all young man. But Elio tells Oliver that he actually does not know about matters of serious importance, such as love. This intrigues and piques the interest of Oliver, which creates a very awkward moment for the two. No so soon when Oliver and Elio are seen lying together as the former tells the latter: 'Call me by your name, and I'll call you by mine.'
