The new updates and spoilers for "Ant-Man and the Wasp" will feature the film's official Synopsis and a list of Characters added for the Marvel sequel.

Saving Janet Van Dyne

Marvel Studios announced that "Ant-Man and The Wasp" has started production this month and a teaser video shows the film's set with small chairs of Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly reprising their roles as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Hope Van Dyne/ Wasp.

The studio announced Michelle Pfeiffer for the role of Janet Van Dyne and sequel's synopsis during the San Diego Comic-Con event.

According to the synopsis, "Ant-Man and The Wasp" is set in the aftermath of "Captain America: Civil War" as Scott Lang struggles with consequences of his choices as both hero and a loving father to Cassie.

As he tries to rebalance his life and responsibilities, Hope and Hank Pym gives him a new urgent mission. Scott will be joined by Hope in this mission as they try to uncover the secrets of their past.

While the mission in the film is still unknown, comic book fans speculated that it has something to do with rescuing Janet from the Quantum Realm, a sub-atomic world that Hank discovered using his Pym particles.

The first Wasp is trapped in the Quantum Realm after she tampered with her regulator to stop a Russian missile during a mission with her husband. The mid-credits scene from "Ant-Man" sets-up Hope as the next Wasp by revealing an incomplete suit, honoring her mother's legacy.

New characters in the sequel

"Ant-Man and The Wasp" will feature an all-new cast of characters joining Scott and Hope. These characters are Dr. Bill Foster, Ghost, Sonny Burch, and agent Jimmy Woo.

"The Matrix" star Laurence Fishburne is cast as Bill Foster and he will be the friend and colleague of Hank. He is known in the comics as the fourth Giant-Man and had an important role in the "Civil War" arc.

Bill will likely join Hank, Scott, and Hope in rescuing Janet from the Quantum Realm.

"Black Mirror" star Hannah John-Kamen will play the sequel's main antagonist, Ghost. The Marvel villain is closely associated with Iron Man in the comics and uses an advanced suit to make her invisible and intangible. The film will likely explore her career in corporate sabotage and espionage.

Aside from Ghost, another Iron Man villain, Sonny Burch will be joining the film played "American Ultra" actor Walton Goggins. Burch worked for Cross Technological Industries in the comics, and will likely continue Darren Cross's work in the sequel.

Lastly, "Fresh of the Boat" star Randall Park is cast Jimmy Woo and he is rumored to be an F.B.I. agent in the movie instead of an S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

"Ant-Man and The Wasp" is set to premiere on July 6, 2018.
