"Days Of Our Lives" is about to go through some big changes. The long-running NBC Soap Opera recently hired a brand new head writer, Ron Carlivati, and he is about to shake things up in Salem. According to a report by the Inquisitr, Carlivati's first order of business may be to recast the fan favorite character of EJ Dimera.
Casting drama on 'DOOL'
According to the report, there will be a lot of casting switches in the upcoming months. Some fan-favorite characters will be on their way out, while some old favorites are set to make their dramatic returns.
Vincent Irizarry was let go from "Days of our Lives" recently, and his character, Deimos Kiriakis, is said to be leaving Salem very soon, and his departure could spark a new murder mystery storyline for fans to enjoy as they begin seeing Ron Carlivati's changes take place. Actress Arianne Zucker, who has played the role of Nicole Walker for two decades is also on her way out. Zucker decided that it was her time to leave the soap opera, and her character will say a tearful goodbye later this year.
Guess who's coming home to Salem?
Meanwhile, Chandler Massey is on his way back as Will Horton. Although "Days of our Lives" viewers watched Will get murdered by the necktie killer, also known as Ben Weston, Will is coming back.
Massey has already been teasing fans about how good the storylines are under Carlvati, and fans can't wait to see what circumstances have Will back in Salem this fall. The character of Angelica Deveraux will also be returning to Salem after a long absence. While the character has been seen before, actress Morgan Fairchild will try her hand at the role this time around, and fans are thrilled with the casting choice.
Meanwhile, Alison Sweeney will also be making her way back to Salem as Sami Brady for a two-month stint.
Is the character of EJ being recast?
Sami will return home to usher in the storyline that brings Will Horton back to Salem, but will she also get her husband Ej Dimera back as well? Rumors are running wild that the role of EJ is being recast for "Days of our Lives" and that actor Greg Audino, who has confirmed he's auditioned for a contract role with the soap, will be stepping into James Scott's former character.
Viewers know that EJ was killed off back in 2014, but his father, Stefano DiMera, was very mysterious regarding his death. Stefano had his daughter, Kristen DiMera, inject EJ's body with a substance and then he swapped his body with another corpse. There has been no mention of what happened to EJ's body since that time, but fans are hoping that they are about to find out when Ron Carlivati's work begins to air later this year.
