New exciting changes and updates continue to arrive at the Nintendo Switch-Style Atari 2600 Retro Console. Far from the current times in which power is what makes many players decide for a console or another, in the 70's Atari 2600 was one of the first machines that caused thousands of people around the world got into the world of video games. Now, we have good news for all of them. As a collaboration between Atari and PQube, Nintendo Switch will bring the console to life with two new models. One of the models is called Atari Retro Handheld, and it is a miniature portable version that has wood finishes that make it similar to the CX2600.

The other model is called Atari Retro Plug and Play TV Joystick, which is just a command that we can connect to a television to enjoy different video games system, one of the most classic in history.

A prototype of Atari 2700 in a second-hand shop discovered

Second-hand shops are capable of housing products of all kinds, sometimes unknown even to the workers themselves. It is the case of an Atari prototype that a Reddit’s user has just acquired, at an army veterans store in Oceanside, California. After seeing the console on one of its shelves and not recognizing the exact model, did not hesitate to take a look on the Internet to find out what exactly it was. To his surprise, the user was not long in verifying that the model corresponded to a prototype of the Atari 2700, which never became commercialized despite being promoted in ads like the one that you can see under these lines.

The machine in question was one of twelve prototypes that, according to experts in the field, the company came to manufacture during the development process.

It is worth mentioning that the main difference with Atari 2600 is the incorporation of wireless controls, with a built-in joystick, which allows players to enjoy the same games but without the hassle of the cable.
