Square Enix recently announced their new game "Dissidia Final Fantasy NT," heading for the PlayStation 4 console. In addition, their new update talked about character categories, game system, and battle system, following their PS4 announcement.

The upcoming game's system will revolve around the soundtracks and battle style. On the other hand, the battle style will be real-time RPG (action RPG) while the soundtracks will come from the previous, existing, and popular Final Fantasy titles. One example would be the famous "Decisive Battle" and "Battle to the Death" from the Final Fantasy VI title.

Furthermore, remembering the overall game system from the PlayStation Portable's "Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy," the battle system is pretty much the same. Since "Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" is a PS4 port version of the Arcade Game from Japan "Dissidia Final Fantasy Arcade," all the features are derived from it instead. However, the game's controls are fitted for the PlayStation 4 game controller. Here is the sample battle of the arcade version, which is similar to the PS4 version:

Now, the battle is team-based compared to the previous one-on-one battles only. This is the game's huge step towards a potential e-sport in the future.

Game system

The game system will be simplified and derived from the arcade version.

First, players will choose their character from the lineup. Second, they will aim to earn bravery points, which will then be used to damage enemies' health points through moves called "Finishers." These health-damaging moves will present the most notable moves of the character in the Final Fantasy series.

Players will have the chance to customize the character's weapons and costumes to present their own uniqueness, especially during team fights.

Of course, "Summons" will pave their way to the said game and will significantly change the result of the battle, altering stage, boosting character power, and more. The most common Summons are Ifrit, Shiva, Alexander, Ramuh, and Carbuncle.

Four character categories

The classification of characters into four categories is an important addition to the said game.

These are the following character categories: Assassin, Marksman, Vanguard, and Specialist. This is to make sure that players easily choose characters that suit their playstyle/gaming style.

Each category differs in attack range, movement speed, and attack frequency. One Twitter user named @Nova_Crystallis presents the four categories below:

"Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" will be released in early 2018 on the PlayStation 4 console. Here is the recap of the recent trailer, which was published earlier this month by PlayStation. The trailer can be viewed below:
