Apple recently released their latest operating system – the iOS 11, which brings new features and an improved performance for iPhone devices. Some of the new features include a newly designed Control Center, screen recording and a new aesthetic for the App Store, just to name a few.
However, these new features also add to the list of things that drain your smartphone’s battery.
In addition, some of the settings have also been changed which means it would take some time for you to get used to the new firmware.
With that said, here are some of the ways you can improve your iPhone’s battery life in the latest iOS 11 as shared by CNET.
Avoid Auto-brightness as much as you can
Auto-brightness is a great feature as it automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness depending on the available light in the area. However, if you use your device in brightly lit places or during the day, the system forces the screen to display at full brightness more often than it needs to.
If you want to conserve more power, it’s recommended to turn off Auto-brightness and use it only during night time.
Go to “Settings,” “General,” “Accessibility” and head to “Display Accommodations.” Here you can toggle the Auto-brightness on or off.
Adjust your flashlight level to the lowest setting
If you use your iPhone as a flashlight, you may adjust the brightness to the lowest level so it may save you more power. It’s best to try out the lowest level first and see if it’s bright enough for you and remember the brighter the level, the more power it consumes.
To adjust the level of brightness, swipe your screen up to enable Control Center and long-press the flashlight button.
Background app refresh and automatic downloads are the battery hogs of your iPhone
Some of the apps on your iPhone constantly refresh themselves so you won’t manually have to once you opened them.
This is a good feature but it also means that it drains a lot of battery juice. It is possible though to choose which apps you want to refresh in the background.
To do this, go to your “Settings,” “General,” click “Background App Refresh” and here you can select which apps you want or turn it off altogether.
Moreover, apps that update themselves automatically also drain much of your battery. You may choose your apps not to auto-update to save more battery. Go to “Settings” and click “iTunes & App Store.” In the Automatic Downloads Section, you may toggle off the switch for “Updates."
