Amazon is preparing for the launch of its next-generation TV. The product is titled Fire Tv and is expected to come with either an elder or a younger sibling. The TV will be accompanied by an HDMI dongle. Users can plug it in on Fire’s rear panel and enjoy complete access to the vast library of content provided by the company. Amazon is also offering its Fire TV Stick for free along with the purchase of Fire TV. According to a report by The Verge, it also supports 4K content. It’s uncanny how Amazon chose to launch it just before Apple conducts its 12 September keynote event.

The Cupertino giant is rumored to introduce its own version of 4K TV. If this turns out to be true, then it will be a worthy competition between Amazon and Apple.

4K device, shipping date is not confirmed

The shipping date of Amazon’s two variants of Fire TV is not known as yet. A report from AFTVNews suggests that it might take place in December this year. Out of the two, the first variant will feature a mid-tier dongle. One can directly plug it into an HDMI port. The second will be a slightly higher-range variant. According to a report by Tech Radar, it is going to come with support for Alexa digital voice assistant. Both the devices will extend support for 4K HDR at 60 frames per second.

Amazon's Echo and Echo Dot smart-home speakers

The Tech Radar report claims that AFTV News got their hands on alleged documents that speak about the two TV variants. On the basis of the information provided in the listing, both the devices will also feature LED lights. Amazon’s Echo and ECHO Dot smart-home speakers have a similar kind of design with glowing LED technology.

This is going to allow consumers to interact with Alexa. One does not even need to operate the TV using a remote anymore. The TV is also going to include something called the IR emitter. This will allow Amazon’s dongle to function with older versions of TV that used to come without the support of HDMI-CEC standard. At this point, Amazon hasn’t confirmed the existence of any of the above-mentioned products.

According to a report by CNBC, Apple is expected to take the wraps off its 4K TV on September 12 in California. The company has apparently put in a lot of time and effort into perfecting its innovation for consumers. The battle is going to be tough between the two technology giants, with their leading products in smart home speaker and TV segments being face to face.
