Xiaomi is reportedly gearing up to launch the next-generation Mi Mix 2 with the bezel-less display on September 12. Even though the previous rumors suggest that the launch of the second generation Mix phone will happen by the end of December 2017, the latest leak emerging from China indicate that the company is scheduled to launch the handset on September 12. Moreover, Apple is also planning to launch iPhone 8 on the same date.
It is to be noted that both Apple and Xiaomi haven't confirmed their launch dates officially.
Powerful processor
Touted to be a successor to Mix released in 2016, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will probably ship with a 6.4-inch IPS AMOLED curved display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB RAM, 19MP rear camera, Android Nougat powered by a 4500mAh battery. There will be minor variations because we never heard of a smartphone with the 19MP camera sensor. Hence, the rear camera will most likely bear a 21MP sensor alongside 8MP front-facing camera. Xiaomi will push an update to Android 8.0 Oreo in 2018.
Facial recognition support
Expected to cost $755, the Xiaomi Mi Mix second variant will not have any bezels on all the four sides of the front and will be thinner than the previous counterpart. Moreover, the phone will also provide support for 3D facial recognition. To recall, Xiaomi had hired Philippe Starck, a popular artist to design the second edition of the Mi Mix smartphone. The handset will be designed using a white ceramic back coupled with dual circular placeholders housed vertically at the top portion.
Improved sound system
In addition to dual cameras, the Mi Mix 2 will be integrated with a horizontally-aligned fingerprint sensor. The recently leaked render also reveals dual stereo speakers placed at the bottom of the device paired with a USB Type-C fast charging port.
Rewinding, the Xiaomi Mi Mix was shipped with a 6.4-inch display, Snapdragon 821 processor, Adreno 530 graphics powered by a 4400mAh battery. While the Mi Mix features a 16MP camera, the upcoming second edition of the phone will offer a higher capacity dual camera. While the 4GB RAM variant of Xiaomi Mi Mix is equipped with 128GB storage, the 6GB RAM model integrates a 256GB expandable internal storage. The selfie camera comes with a 5MP sensor.
Xiaomi is expected to improve the camera specifications alongside increasing RAM capacity from 6GB to 8GB. Based on the latest trends, Xiaomi will also likely shoot up the storage capacity up to 512GB. We will continue to keep track of the developments and provide you with updates. Stay tuned.
