After its recent official reveal of the Moto Z2 Force Edition, Motorola continues with another one. This time the Lenovo-owned smartphone brand introduces the Moto G5S Plus. The device is the biggest one among its other two siblings in the G5 lineup. Information about it was leaked last month and it announcement just made it official

Design and construction of the Moto G5S Plus

The newest model follows the same metal enclosure used by its other models from the G5 series. It uses matte-textured anodized aluminum unibody housing that contributes to a premium appearance.

Its back panel is free from any regulatory text commonly found on most smartphones. The Motorola logo sits just below its main camera, while antenna lines set on both the top and bottom portion. Facing front, the Moto G5S Plus positions its fingerprint sensor just below the display. It comes with gesture support for users to navigate through the phone’s interface. Its upper half holds an earpiece flanked by a selfie camera and LED flash.

Its top frame sports a 3.5mm headset jack along with its SIM tray. The bottom part bears a MicroUSB port and its speaker grilles. The right side of the device is populated by a volume rocker with a smooth finish, while the power key below it is textured so users can easily locate the button by touch.

The left side of the unit does not have anything relevant. It also comes with a water-repellent nanocoating commonly featured by Motorola smartphones.

Hardware and camera

A Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and Adreno 506 GPU combo sits inside, while RAM is dependent on the storage size. It will be available in 32GB with a 3GB RAM and 64GB with a 4GB RAM option.

The display has been bumped up to 5.5-inch from the 5.2-inch sported by the Moto G5 Plus. Its display resolution is still pegged at 1080p along with a 3,000mAh battery capacity. Its operating system is Android 7.1 Nougat and does not come with NFC connectivity.

Imaging-wise, the handset takes a bolder approach. The front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel f/2.0 wide-angle unit accompanied with an LED flash.

The main shooter is a dual-camera configuration composed of a 13-megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors. A two-tone LED flash is installed underneath the horizontally-mounted lenses.

Release date and price

So far, information about the Moto G5S Plus’ release date and price in the US has not been confirmed. However, Motorola has specified that the phone will launch in Europe this month for 299 Euros.
