Apple has been planning to introduce its OLED iPhone in September. It is said that the iPhone 8 will feature a radical redesign, with an edge to edge display without a physical home button. Apple's been testing multiple prototypes for the iPhone 8 as well. The images online depict a device that's 137.54mm tall and with 67.54mm bezels around the display, with 2.5D curved glass at the edges.

These images are said to be sourced from a Case manufacturer that received them from a glass supplier in China.

An incredible design

It is even rumored that this phone will have a glass body. According to analyst Ming-Chi Ko, the glass will be built around a polished stainless steel frame. The CEO of Apple supplier Catcher Technology, Allen Horng, has said "only one model" will adopt a glass casing in 2017. Dummy models have apparently already been constructed by case makers. The constructed dummy model is thicker than present iPhone models, without Touch ID sensors and Apple logo. This 5.8-inch phone may feature an IP68 water resistance rating.

Apple supplier, Wistron accidentally leaked information that this will bring a speedier performance as it is expected to use the A11 chip. This phone will support wireless charging and face recognition.

New features with iPhone 8

iPhone 8 will be available in 128GB and 256GB capacities, with 3GB ram. SK Hynix, Toshiba, and Samsung will supply 3D NAND flash chips. It may also have enhanced Siri functionality and an L-shaped two cell battery pack with a capacity of 2,700mAh. TThere will be a new 3D Touch module with an additional graphite sheet lamination for heat reduction. This 3D sensing facial recognition system is advanced and can unlock the phone. Apple may add iris scanning capabilities to the iPhone, for better identification of the owner.

A video has been published online for a detailed look at the dummy model, which could perhaps be representative of what the iPhone 8 will look like.

iPhone 8 will be available in limited colors and the cost will be around $1,000. Economic Daily News said the launch could be delayed until October or November because of technical issues with the display lamination process. Barclays analysts suggests the 5.8-inch OLED iPhone will be in short supply after the launch. According to Trusted Reviews, a "Digitimes report in June noted that low OLED yield for the iPhone 8 could lead to just 3-4 million units being ready for the phone's planned September debut."
